Michigan RV Repair
INSURANCE & WARRANTIES · EDUCATION FIRST

Understand your RV protection before you buy it.

RV insurance, service contracts and roadside plans can be confusing. These plain-English guides explain what each one does, so you can ask better questions and compare offers with confidence.

Important: Michigan RV Repair is not an insurance company, agency or warranty administrator, and we do not sell, quote or bind policies or service contracts today. This page is educational. When we add vetted partner options, we will label them clearly and disclose how MRR is compensated.

The four protections RV owners ask about

RV insurance

Covers the RV itself (collision, comprehensive, liability) and often contents, attached accessories and vacation liability. Policies differ a lot between occasional use and full-time living, so tell the insurer exactly how you use the RV.

  • Ask about: agreed value vs actual cash value, full-timer coverage, total loss replacement, and what happens when it is parked at a campsite or storage lot.

Extended service contracts (often called "extended warranties")

Paid plans that help cover specific repairs after the manufacturer warranty ends. They are service contracts, not insurance, and the details matter: which systems are covered, who you can use, and how claims are approved.

  • Ask about: covered components, exclusions, deductible, labor rate limits, whether a mobile tech can be used, and claim approval steps.

Manufacturer warranty

Included with a new RV. It can be split between the RV builder and the individual component makers (furnace, fridge, slide-out).

  • Keep your paperwork, document problems early with photos, and report them within the warranty period.

Roadside assistance

Towing, tire changes and lockouts for a vehicle that is big, heavy and hard to move. Not all plans cover large RVs or towing a trailer.

  • Ask about: weight and length limits, tow distance, and whether trailer and tow vehicle are both covered.

Repair estimates

Written estimates for insurance or service-contract claims, subject to what the carrier or administrator requires.
