Where our campground listings come from, what they do not guarantee, and how they can be reused.
Michigan-first campground database
The dedicated MRR Michigan Campground Atlas uses a separate MRR campground database. Existing MRR listings and imported public GIS observations are attributed to their sources. New Michigan state-park, state-forest and statewide campground records are imported in scheduled batches when the integration is active; individual visitors do not trigger bulk GIS requests. Direct operator and booking links appear only when known. If the database is unavailable, explicitly labeled sample entries may be displayed instead.
Michigan public sources include the Michigan DNR campground GIS layers and the Michigan statewide All Campgrounds layer. This database is not a complete or verified registry of all private campgrounds.
Public campground index
Listings are fetched on demand from WhimTrav's published open-data files and may include campgrounds, RV parks, public-land recreation sites, and duplicates. State park locations are shown separately and do not confirm that overnight camping is offered.
WhimTrav Open Data describes the source fields, update dates, original agencies and open-data licensing. A snapshot published in October 2026 lists 48,207 campground/RV park records and 3,006 state park locations. They are not a complete census, a booking engine, nor proof that a location remains open. Some entries may have only a map coordinate.
License and attribution
The source database is licensed under the Open Data Commons Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0. Contains information from © OpenStreetMap contributors and U.S. federal, state, and local sources; original datasets may carry their own licensing. Some records separately carry Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 fields. No original U.S. government copyrights are asserted.
MRR preserves upstream source, credit and license values in its API responses when present. An unaltered source dataset is available to download directly from WhimTrav, or from the MRR directory endpoint when functioning. The campground and state-park public-data indexes are separate from any future private discount, membership and customer relationship records.

Direct links vs location links
"Website" means a link exists in the public source. "Reserve" means the feed includes a reservation link or a federal facility identifier for Recreation.gov; availability is not checked. "View map" means only a coordinate or place search is available. Always verify the exact campground, access, regulations, restrictions, current rates, and booking options with the operator before traveling.
Partnerships and memberships
MRR does not currently represent that it has negotiated campground discounts, prepaid packages or annual campground memberships. Future benefits will only be shown after signed operator agreements and confirmed terms. For corrections or partnerships, contact service@michigan-rv-repair.com.
